“Your Excellency, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Mukhta Khamenei, please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the Russian president’s statement reads.
Putin emphasized that, in the face of armed aggression against Iran, the newly elected leader’s work in this high office will require great courage and dedication.
However, he expressed his confidence that Mukhta Khamenei will honorably continue his father’s work and “unite the Iranian people in the face of these difficult trials.”
Furthermore, he reaffirmed Moscow’s unwavering support for Tehran and its solidarity with its Iranian friends.
“Russia has been and will continue to be a reliable partner of the Islamic Republic,” he emphasized.
Finally, the Russian president wished him success in resolving the complex tasks he faces, as well as good health and strength of spirit.
