Vietnam: Election process enters final stage

Hanoi, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam entered on Monday the final stage of an election process that will conclude on Sunday, March 15, when some 73 million citizens will vote to elect the National Assembly (Parliament) and People's Councils at all levels.

Throughout this week, and up to 24 hours before the polls open, the candidates’ campaigns and meetings with voters will continue, as well as early voting in special zones, both offshore and in hard-to-reach areas.

Regarding the meetings between voters and candidates for a seat in the Legislative or for local state bodies, more than 2,700 were held in Hanoi alone, in which nearly 380,000 voters participated, and around 6,700 opinions were generated.

Organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in Hanoi, the meetings provided conditions so that voters could express their opinions openly and democratically, ensuring that all candidates had equal time and opportunity to present their programs.

The Hanoi Moi newspaper reported that “many voters not only sought information but also directly inquired about the candidates’ professional competence, practical experience, political integrity, and social responsibility.”

The publication noted that the VFF closely monitored the election campaign process and ensured respect for the principles of equality, openness, transparency, and fair competition within the framework of the law.
