Led by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, as well as the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Group of the legislature, Webster Kotiwani Shamu, members of both bodies reiterated to the Ambassador, Susellys Perez Mesa, the historical position of this nation against the unilateral sanctions imposed by Washington.
The parliamentarians received from the Ambassador an update of the outlook on the island following the executive order of the US president of January 29 to seek to prevent supplies of fuel with genocidal effects on his people.
Legislators and members of the Friendship Group noted the negative consequences of the blockade, which even hinders necessary medical care for its inhabitants and the purchase of fuel for the operation of hospitals.
Perez Mesa, accompanied by the Minister Counsellor Luis Enrique González and the Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac Moráguez, highlighted the signs of support received from all continents and the decision of the Cubans to resist and defeat the new attempt to overthrow the Revolution.
The participants agreed on the need to strengthen solidarity with the Caribbean island, expressed themselves in favor of identifying areas for cooperation and promoting various initiatives in support of Cuba.
During more than two hours of meeting, with the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe, the attendees exchanged with the Ambassador on various topics of reality in the Caribbean nation.
