The traditional ceremony will take place in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago and will be led by Archbishop and Cardinal Fernando Chomali, who will offer the main prayer in front of the new president, Jose Antonio Kast.
Also participating in the event are the main leaders of other faiths, including bishops and pastors of evangelical and Protestant churches, rabbis from the Jewish Community of Chile, leaders of the Islamic Center, and Orthodox patriarchs.
The Te Deum, as this ceremony is known, has been part of Chilean traditions since the struggles for independence from Spain.
Since 1971, at the request of Cardinal Raul Silva Henriquez, it ceased to be exclusively Catholic and began to include other Christian denominations.
In this way, it takes on a character of national unity when celebrated to pray for the well-being of the population and the wisdom of its leaders.
The new president of Chile and his family profess the Catholic faith in one of its more conservative branches, the Schoenstatt Movement, founded in Germany by Father Joseph Kentenich in 1914.
