“We continue to maintain contact with Caracas, engaging in dialogue and maintaining our interest in economic cooperation. Cooperation projects remain on the agenda,” the spokesman stated this Saturday during his usual press briefing.
Previously, on Friday, Peskov affirmed that Russia continues to view Venezuela as a friendly country.
Earlier this month, the director of the Department for Latin America at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Shchetinin, visited Caracas to review the bilateral agenda and cooperation priorities between the two countries in the new context.
It was the first visit by a Russian government official since the January 3 US attack on Caracas, which resulted in the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were taken to New York to face trial for various drug-related offenses.
Authorities reported the deaths of more than 100 people during that operation.
Two days after the US attack, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez assumed the role of acting president of Venezuela.
