The medical supplies were received by the Venezuela-Cuba Mutual Friendship and Solidarity Movement as part of the “Amor Con Amor Se Paga” (Love is Paid with Love) campaign, launched in late February by this solidarity group in response to the tightening of the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade.
The donation was symbolic after being delivered by healthcare professionals from the Jose Marti Our America House, in this capital.
The organization stated on its Instagram channel, “We reaffirm, from IPASME, our commitment to life and the brotherhood between our peoples.”
It stated that, in the face of difficulties, the response will always be “unity and mutual support,” because caring for those in need is our greatest social responsibility.
In the video accompanying the message, IPASME President, Dr. Mariela Guillen, stated that in addition to the delivery of essential medicines, “we want to call for solidarity with Cuba as part of the Amor Con Amor Se Paga campaign.”
This campaign promotes actions of solidarity with Cuba to mitigate the effect of the US blockade on the energy sector and daily life, and focuses efforts on supporting the operation of schools and hospitals, “giving preference to those initiatives boosted by Chavez and Fidel in tribute to our integration process.”
