Colombia’s Vice President Francia Marquez, who led the meeting, asked those attending to prioritize the creation of a roadmap that facilitates solidarity and an increasingly close connection between the two continental areas.
In a speech focused on trade and investment, Marquez stated, “Strengthening ties between Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean is taking shape in an economic agenda, a political commitment to a more integrated and equitable Global South with a greater capacity to influence international economic governance.”
The vice president emphasized that Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean represent enormous economic potential.
She stressed, “Today, our regions together comprise just over two billion inhabitants, a predominantly young, dynamic population that is increasingly connected to the global economy.”
Marquez also highlighted the potentialities in sectors such as agriculture, energy, strategic mining, infrastructure, the digital economy, and the creative industries.
The Forum is being held at the Agora Convention Center in this capital since March 18.
