Friday’s meeting at the Agora Convention Center was preceded by the 29th Meeting of National Coordinators of the integration mechanism, held on March 16, 17, and 18.
The meeting of foreign ministers, previously announced by the Colombian Foreign Ministry, will provide a forum to “reflect on the functioning of the organization and its validity in the face of current global and regional challenges.”
Friday’s agenda also includes the closing of the CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum, which brought together delegations from both regions in this capital since Wednesday, aimed at establishing or strengthening alliances in the area of cooperation.
The Pro Tempore Presidency will be transferred to Uruguay during the holding of the 10th Summit on Saturday.
The diplomatic institution informed that participants expect to adopt the Bogota Declaration, a document that will reflect “the progress made in the last year regarding regional integration, cooperation, the promotion of peace, and the strengthening of multilateralism in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
The Foreign Ministry also noted that among the advances boosted by Colombia during the last year is the boost of a regional agenda focused on sustainable development and a just energy transition.
