Organized by the Movement of Solidarity, the contingent consists of parliamentarians, members of political parties, and social organizations, as well as graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), young people, union members, and representatives from other sectors.
Kathy Corvalan, a member of the secretariat at the Siboney group, told Prensa Latina, “The diversity of the group overjoyed us because the most important thing is that all the nuances of Chile are represented in this convoy.”
Corvalan added that the delegation includes more than 20 people, diverse in ages, but many young people also joined.
The delegation is carrying about 30 suitcases with more than 600 kilos of medicines, medical supplies, milk, and school supplies.
The Chilean delegation will deliver part of the shipment to the Diez de Octubre Hospital in Havana, the capital of Cuba, and a school.
Led by Progressive International (PI), the Our America Convoy will deliver aid by air, sea, and land to Cuba from around the world, aiming to break the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States to try to stifle the Cuban population.
