The situation in both occupied territories was one of the leading issues addressed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh during a telephone conversation, the country’s Foreign Ministry stated.

The diplomatic institution added that both sides discussed the escalating attacks by Jewish settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The text noted that Abdelatty condemned the growing violence perpetrated by these individuals against the Palestinian civilian population and their property, which he described as flagrant violations of international law.

The foreign minister also called to implement the provisions of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, reached last year, which includes the Israeli military withdrawal, increased international aid to the territory, and the transfer of power there to a government of Palestinian technocrats.

Al-Sheikh, in turn, expressed his gratitude for Egypt’s continued support of the Palestinian cause.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Sunday the systematic attacks by settlers in the West Bank and warned that those actions will provoke greater tensions in the region.
