The report also stated that Azad Mammadli, an Azerbaijani national who shared sensitive information with Ryan, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for high treason

Both convicts will serve their sentences in a high-security prison. Ryan will be deported from Azerbaijan once he has completed his sentence.

According to the indictment, Ryan’s mission was to gather information for French intelligence services about weapons and ammunition produced in Azerbaijan, and the composition of the Azerbaijani army during the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 2020.

He was also tasked with identifying options for secret transfers of funds to third countries via Azerbaijan, as well as gathering information about Russia and Iran.

Ryan was allegedly recruited by members of the French Directorate General for External Security (DGSE), who were subsequently expelled from Azerbaijan.
