Lebanese sources told the newspaper that officials were informed through non-diplomatic channels about Tehran’s commitment to its allies, including the Hezbollah (Party of God) Movement, whose militants are engaged in fierce clashes with the Israeli army in the south.
Beirut fears that Israel, after ending the war on Iran, accelerates its offensive against the country, especially because military maneuvers suggest the establishment of “bridgeheads” in Lebanese territory that could be the starting point for larger-scale operations, the newspaper noted.
Asharq Al-Awsat stressed that reports of progress in efforts to end the fighting had generated significant interest here.
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, in a conversation with that publication, expressed his hope for an imminent settlement.
