The Broad Front delegation also includes the leader of the Movement for Popular Participation, Heber Bourses, former communist congresswoman Ana Olivera, and the FA’s head of international affairs, Fernando Gambera.
Uruguay will be represented in Havana at global solidarity forums and the reception of international aid, including the Our America Flotilla, as part of a mobilization against the tightening of the US blockade and threats against the island.
The Broad Front is part of the Uruguayan Anti-Imperialist Committee of Solidarity with Cuba and the Peoples of the Americas, which also includes the PIT-CNT labor federation.
The Secretary of International Relations of the Uruguayan labor movement, Jose Olivera, will also be in Havana to participate in the activities scheduled for March 20 and 21.
Olivera told Prensa Latina that representatives of social and political organizations from various parts of the world, who “share internationalism and anti-imperialism,” will converge in the Cuban capital.
He emphasized that this will be the antithesis of what he called puppet and right-wing governments that, in the Americas, “are paving the way for unbridled US imperialism, which is blowing up the norms of international coexistence.”
