Volodin conveyed his deepest condolences to the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, on the occasion of Larijani’s death as a result of an Israeli airstrike on Tehran, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Duma.

He also praised Larijani’s contribution to strengthening the comprehensive Russian-Iranian strategic partnership, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and the friendship between the two peoples.
The Speaker of the Federation Council (Russian Senate), Valentina Matvienko, also conveyed her condolences for the death of Larijani, “as a result of the continued and unjustified military aggression of the US-Israeli tandem against Iran.”
