In his X account, the Cuban F.M. highlighted that 40 percent of US citizens are against the prolonged trade blockade against the island, compared to eight percentage points less approval.
This indicates “the will of the majority of its population, and not of a minority full of hatred and warmongering anxieties”, and if the current administration really listened to it would “end its criminal policy against the Cuban people that causes increasing humanitarian damage”, noted the head of Cuban diplomacy.
A recent YouGov survey shows that the criterion is not only overwhelming among Republicans regarding the blockade.
Disapproval is more common among Democrats (65% versus 16%) and independents (41% versus 21%).
However, a majority of Republicans (63%) approve the blockade and 15% disapprove.
Other significant data say that nearly half of Americans, 46%, disapprove to varying degrees of the current US policy of blocking oil shipments to Cuba from other countries.
Meanwhile, a higher figure, 61%, opposes the use of military force.
In turn, most US citizens have a favorable opinion of the Cuban people and the vast majority agree that both countries should have diplomatic relations, an aspect in which there are similarities in several partisan tendencies.
