The meeting is sponsored by the Chamber of Deputies in partnership with the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF), aimed at strengthening the role of parliaments in the face of ongoing technological transformations.
Parliamentarians from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, and Uruguay are participating, along with representatives from international organizations, universities, technology companies, and experts.
The forum aims to create a space for institutional and strategic dialogue on the impact of AI on societies across the continent, its influence on democratic systems, employment, education, and public policy, as well as the challenges and opportunities in terms of regulation and economic development.
The meeting between parliamentarians and other major players in the digital ecosystem is especially important at a time when technological transformation is reshaping societies at an unprecedented pace.
