Belarus plans to sign friendship agreement with DPRK

Minsk, March 25 (Prensa Latina) Belarus and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) plan to sign a friendship and cooperation treaty during President Alexander Lukashenko's official visit, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Rizhenkov announced.

“Our greatest interest in the DPRK is to strengthen truly friendly and partnership relations. There is a whole range of areas of mutual interest, and all of them are reflected in the corresponding friendship treaty that the leaders of our countries will sign,” Rizhenkov said, as quoted by the BelTA news agency.

The Belarusian Foreign Minister emphasized that, based on this agreement, both nations will promote contacts between relevant ministries and various state institutions.

He also noted that the signing of approximately ten additional agreements aimed at strengthening the legal framework for bilateral cooperation is expected during the visit.

Lukashenko arrived in Pyongyang for a two-day official visit, at the invitation of DPRK leader Kim Jong Un.

The day before, the Belarusian president’s press service stated that the trip would include discussions on the development of relations between Belarus and DPRK, as well as key areas of common interest and the most promising projects for implementation.
