This edition, presented by the country’s Performing Arts Archive and corresponding to the month of March, highlights the careers of the award-winning artists between 2022 and 2026, a period following the publication of the book “Entretejer una tradicion” (Weaving a Tradition), by Marilyn Garbey and Norgue Espinosa, which compiled the laureates from 1999 to 2021.

Its pages feature the profiles of Aramis Delgado (2023 Award), who began her artistic training after the revolutionary triumph and participated in the emblematic film “Soy Cuba” (I Am Cuba) (1964); Raquel Carrio (2024 Award), recognized for her influential work as a mentor to playwrights and actors, is featured.

Also included are Miram Munoz (2025 Award), praised for her ability to move audiences on stage; and Fernando Hechavarria (2026 Award), a versatile actor with a solid career in theater and television.

The issue, available on the social media channels of the National Council of Performing Arts, also includes an interview by Jaime Sarusky with the Italian playwright Dario Fo, originally published in Tablas magazine in 1984, on the occasion of the centenary of his 1997 Nobel Prize in Literature.

As it does every year, the ITI (International Theatre Institute) is releasing a message to mark this occasion; for this celebration, the text was written by the American actor Willem Dafoe, who addressed the challenge for theater artists to prevent the corruption of this art form in an increasingly divisive and controlling world.

Great theater is about challenging our way of thinking and encouraging us to imagine what we aspire to, the actor emphasized.
