In its first weekly report since the start of the offensive, the ministry warned of an unprecedented level of damage to the national agricultural sector.
According to the document, some 46,479 hectares of agricultural land have been damaged, reflecting increasing pressure on the country’s food security.
The most significant damage is concentrated in the Southern and Nabatieh Governorates, considered among the main agricultural areas, where more than 44,000 hectares have been damaged, compared to just over 2,000 hectares in the rest of the country.
The report details that the damage includes fruit tree and olive groves, as well as greenhouses and small and medium-sized farms, which are particularly vulnerable to this type of crisis.
Experts also warned that the mass displacement of the population jeopardizes the continuity of agricultural production by disrupting production cycles and reducing the availability of labor.
The assessment also reveals severe losses in other sectors, with the death of approximately 49 percent of beehives and 39 percent of fish production, in addition to damage to cattle, sheep, and poultry farming.
