The statement, published on the military’s official Telegram channel, indicates that the Western Troops Group, as a result of active and decisive actions, captured the village of Brusovka in Donetsk.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine, whose objectives, according to the Russian leadership, are to protect the population of Donetsk and Luhansk from “genocide by the Kyiv regime” and to address the national security risks posed by the eastward expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as the provinces of Kherson and Zaporozhye, joined Russia in September 2022, after holding separate self-determination referendums.
