In the context of the First International Antifascist Conference for the Sovereignty of Peoples, held in that city, Pedro Batista, representative of the Brazilian chapter of that organization, explained the need to coordinate a response to the advance of forces that threaten the sovereignty and rights of peoples.

  The leader emphasized the pluralistic nature of this platform and its purpose of uniting political and social forces on an international scale. “The Antifascist International is pluralistic, has an organic structure, and the task of defeating imperialism, fascism, and Zionism,” he stated.

  During his participation in the panel “Solidarity Among Peoples and the Anti-Imperialist Struggle,” the activist referred to the need to remember the actions of Nazi-inspired groups in recent conflicts and denounced episodes of violence that have marked regions such as Eastern Europe.

  He also reiterated his condemnation of the economic blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, highlighted the example of Iran, whose people have demonstrated their capacity to respond to external aggression, and denounced the high human cost of armed conflicts and the destruction of Palestinian infrastructure.

  Similarly, he mentioned the resistance in Western Sahara under the leadership of the Polisario Front, the challenges faced by Venezuela in the face of external pressures, and emphasized popular mobilization as a key element for sustaining political processes.

  In his analysis, Batista insisted that fascism must be understood as a common enemy, beyond the internal differences between progressive forces, and that a united world can be built.

  He highlighted China’s role on the international stage, considering its economic development model an alternative to the inequalities generated by neoliberalism.
