“Dear friends! I congratulate you on the 115th anniversary of the ROC. Our country was a founding member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and, since 1900, has participated in the revived Olympic Games, hosting them twice: in Moscow in 1980 and in Sochi in 2014,” states Putin’s message.
The president later noted that the organizational and creative standards were exceptional at those events, as the IOC acknowledged.
The head of State underscored that Russia remains open to hosting the Summer and Winter Olympic Games and is ready to contribute to preserving the true ideals of Olympism. Putin also noted that this anniversary is an opportunity to remember those who were at the origins of the national sports industry, strengthened its victorious traditions, won medals and titles in tough and relentless competitions, and trained Olympic record holders, champions, and medalists.
