Timothewos underscored, during the meeting, that the long-standing historical friendship between the two countries provides a solid foundation for collaboration on long-term strategic projects.
The Ethiopian foreign minister welcomed the progress made since the signing of the nuclear cooperation agreement between Addis Ababa and Moscow in September 2025, which aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, experience, and technology as a basis for developing a national nuclear energy program.
Spassky, in turn, informed of the signing on Tuesday of the Strategic Roadmap for Nuclear Energy Development between Ethiopia and Russia, which defines an action plan indicating the future direction of cooperation between the two parties.
Sandokan Debebe, Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian Nuclear Energy Commission, and Spassky signed the document. Debebe, also present at the meeting with Timothewos, noted that the talks with the Russian delegation focused primarily on concrete ways to implement the agreement signed in September 2025 on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
