Hector Umana, a member of the Santiago branch of the Jose Marti Association in Concepcion, said our goal is to send notebooks, pencils, erasers, and other supplies to ensure that children can begin their classes in September with the necessary resources.”
Umana told Prensa Latina that this initiative is being coordinated with the Cuban Ministry of Education (MINED) and the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP).
The group is organizing a food event at the community center in the historic La Victoria neighborhood to raise funds for purchasing the kits.
They will continue participating in campaigns to send medicines and supplies to hospitals on the island.
Cuba is suffering the consequences of the blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades, which tightened with the oil siege decreed by President Donald Trump.
