Following a meeting with Angolan President Joao Lourenco, the director stated that approximately $1.2 billion has already been secured for 13 priority projects on the continent, within the framework of the country’s presidency of the AUDA-Nepad Steering Committee of Heads of State.

She added that these resources will be allocated to structuring initiatives included in the Infrastructure Development Program in Africa, selected from among 67 proposals, Angola Press reported.

She also specified that approximately $30 billion has been secured from the World Bank for the water and sanitation sector, with impact in 15 African countries. The meeting with Lourenco focused on aspects related to the operation of AUDA-Nepad, Bekele explained, adding that the objective was to coordinate ideas and strategies, following the leadership assumed by the Angolan president at the head of this organization.

The executive also highlighted the progress in talks on the industrialization of the continent, with guarantees and alliances already secured to attract more investment.
