The ensemble, directed by Maribel Nodarse and comprised of highly accomplished artists, is Cuba’s first professional women’s choir.

  Founded in 2002, the group champions sacred and early music, as well as popular and contemporary genres, with “a special focus on the work of Cuban and international female composers,” according to the FAC website.

  Following the musical performance, Nave 3 will host the show “Vals Indomable” (Untamed Waltz), performed by the Malpaso company with choreography by Aszure Barton.

  The music is by the Balanescu Quartet, Michael Nyman, and Nils Frahm, while the costume design is by Fritz Masten.

  This piece is complemented by a performance from the Alma String Quartet and Adriana Lopez-Gavilan.

  The performing arts will take over the FAC stage this Saturday to present Decameron, in the style of Giovanni Boccaccio’s masterpiece.
