“Next April 4, we will commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Central Army, founded by the unforgettable Commander of the Revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque. We remember that its units, along with other revolutionary forces, fought the invading enemy on the sands of Playa Giron, and inflicted the first major defeat on Yankee imperialism in the Americas,” the message states.
He also emphasized the institution’s leading role in carrying out glorious internationalist missions and its indelible history in confronting enemy provocations and aggression.
“It is only right to acknowledge their contribution to our concept of strategic defense, based on the War of the Entire People. On this significant date, our first thoughts, with profound gratitude and respect, are for those who have fallen in the line of duty,” he added.
“Today, when the homeland is once again threatened, I reaffirm my confidence that you will firmly confront any aggression, convinced of victory. On its 65th anniversary, I extend my sincerest congratulations to the founders and all the combatants of this Army,” the letter concludes.
