The NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF) stated that the attack hit Al Jabalain Hospital with two bullet impacts, one in the operating room and the other in the maternity ward.
Seven of the dead were healthcare workers who were participating in a children’s vaccination campaign at the time.
The patients were transferred from Al Jabalain to Kosti, about 80 kilometers away, to remove them from danger.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in civil war, following escalating power struggles between the army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
The fighting has destroyed countless livelihoods, plunging the country into a complex spiral of hunger and death.
