Art Exhibition in Ecuador to show solidarity with Cuba

Quito, April 4 (Prensa Latina) The collective exhibition "Against the Blockade" in Ecuador will bring together dozens of artists in solidarity with Cuba, with more than 100 works seeking international support in the face of the blockade imposed by the United States on the island.

The exhibition will feature 102 works by some 50 artists from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Cuba, and other countries who donated their creations for the show. The funds raised from the sale of the paintings will be used to purchase medical supplies for Cubans.

The pieces, which encompass techniques such as painting, printmaking, photography, audiovisual works, and sculptures, are by artists including Mikelle Almeida, Fernando Garcia, Pavel Eguez, Nela Meriguet, Carlos Laramurillo, Pablo Gamboa, Miguel Betancourt, and Jose Unda, among others.

Also on display will be a reproduction of one of the four portraits that the Ecuadorian master Oswaldo Guayasamín painted of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Visual artists Pilar Bustos and Yúmac Ortiz—Coordinator for Peace, Sovereignty, Integration, and Non-Interference and part of the organizing team—embrace solidarity with the Caribbean nation through art and concrete actions.
