According to the Iranian news agency Fars, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) denied any connection to the incident, in response to a report in the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal that attributed the attack to Tehran.
The IRGC condemned the attack and stated that it “has absolutely no connection to this incident,” while urging countries in the region to remain vigilant against what it described as incitement by the United States and Israel. It also maintained that, based on Israel’s regional strategy, the attack was likely carried out by forces linked to that entity.
According to the news report, the attack occurred on March 3, when drones struck the US diplomatic compound in Riyadh, damaging several facilities, including three floors of the building.
Sources cited by the newspaper stated that the extent of the damage was greater than initially admitted, while Saudi authorities had downplayed the incident at first.
This episode comes amid a military escalation in the region, in the midst of the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, with repercussions in several Middle Eastern countries.
