Regarding the reports received about gunfire in the vicinity of the Israeli consulate, the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office quickly launched an investigation, Gurlek wrote on his X account, adding that prosecutors immediately traveled to the scene to conduct the investigation.
So far, it is reported that two Turkish police officers were injured and three attackers were killed. Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci expanded on the information, stating that one of the attackers was linked to an organization that uses religion for its own purposes.
Two other terrorists are brothers, and one of them already had a drug record, Ciftci wrote in X.
Analysts consulted by the media outlet believe the incident reflects increased tensions in Turkiye related to the conflict in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, security experts emphasize the speed of the Turkish institutional response in preventing a diplomatic escalation with Israel.
The attack occurs against a backdrop of growing international polarization and reinforces security protocols around diplomatic missions in Turkiye, a country that has maintained a critical stance toward the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Authorities are continuing their investigations to clarify motives and possible support networks.
