Iran prepares response to mediators regarding truce proposal

Tehran, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that his country has prepared a response to the mediators regarding the truce proposal, which will be communicated to the relevant parties at the appropriate time.

During a press conference, the spokesman explained that Tehran is maintaining exchanges of messages with the United States, amid indirect contacts to explore a possible solution to the ongoing conflict.

Baghaei revealed that Washington previously presented a 15-point proposal, but it was rejected by Iran, which considered it to contain “excessive and unreasonable” demands.

In this context, the official emphasized that the Islamic Republic defined its demands based on its national interests and reiterated that it will not hesitate to defend what it described as its legitimate rights.

“We have prepared our response to the mediators and will inform the relevant parties when necessary,” he stated.

The spokesperson emphasized that Iran is maintaining its diplomatic activity in parallel with the development of military operations, while stressing that Tehran’s objective is not a temporary ceasefire, but a lasting agreement that prevents the recurrence of attacks.

According to press reports, the United States, Iran, and regional mediators are evaluating a possible 45-day truce as a preliminary step to broader negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent agreement.

International media outlets also indicated that countries such as Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan are promoting diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
