“We hope they reflect and can guarantee the runoff. We hope the Government protects the rights of La Paz residents,” Yahuasi told reporters, announcing that he will pursue further legal action.
Yahuasi, the gubernatorial candidate for the Nueva Generacion Patriotica (New Patriotic Generation-NGP) party, participated in a meeting with social organizations in Villa Tunari area of El Alto municipality.
The gubernatorial candidate, whose candidacy was jeopardized by the NGP party’s withdrawal from the race without his consent, obtained strong support from several groups opposed to the TSE’s decision to cancel the runoff in La Paz department.
Representatives from diverse groups, including several federations of farmers and miners, neighborhood associations, and political figures such as former candidate David Vargas and former La Paz mayor Omar Rocha, expressed support for the candidate.
They all agreed to join forces in support of Yahuasi and march from El Alto to downtown La Paz, demanding a “yes or yes” runoff.
