During an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Hamadi warned that the situation in the territory remains marked by confrontation and Moroccan occupation.
The ambassador stated that despite the achievements in “the construction of our State and the victories attained in the diplomatic arena, unfortunately, Western Sahara is more divided than ever.”
The diplomat underscored before ambassadors and other diplomats, members of left-wing parties, and members of social and solidarity movements that the armed conflict against the occupying nation remains active.
He emphasized that the war continues (after its resumption in 2020), and the Sahrawi people remain armed against the Moroccans who are invading our territory.
He also expressed concern about the role of the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), given the lack of progress toward a definitive solution for “Africa’s last colony.”
