According to reports from the Anadolu Agency, the convoy departed from Ankara and will be delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent via the Gurbulak border crossing, opposite the Iranian crossing at Bazargan.
During the departure ceremony, the organization’s president, Fatma Meric Yılmaz, emphasized that the civilian population is the most affected by the conflicts and reiterated her call for a cessation of hostilities.
She expressed that since the beginning of the crisis, they have maintained coordination with the Iranian Red Crescent and the Lebanese Red Cross to support civilians and address their urgent needs.
She also said that the shipment includes shelter materials, hygiene items, and emergency kits, and assured that this assistance marks the beginning of sustained support that will continue according to needs on the ground.
Yılmaz warned that approximately 3.6 million people have been displaced, while tens of thousands of homes and infrastructure have been destroyed, which also affects the operational capacity of the Iranian Red Crescent.
She also confirmed the continuation of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the rest of Palestine.
The United States and Iran announced a two-week ceasefire last Wednesday, brokered by Pakistan, as a preliminary step toward a possible final agreement to end the conflict that began on February 28 and has left thousands dead and wounded.
