Bakanov stated, “We have a completely new rocket, the Soyuz-5, which is currently in the final stages of preparation before launch, being built at Baikonur Cosmodrome. It is a joint project with our Kazakh partners called Baiterek.”
During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the executive noted that all components and systems are undergoing testing. “The rocket has already been built in a vertical position, and adjustments for launch are ongoing,” he said.
Roscosmos chief added that the launch pad for the Angara rocket was recently put into service at Vostochny Cosmodrome. He also emphasized on the importance of incorporating artificial intelligence technologies into the design and modeling of space systems.
Putin met with Bakanov on Cosmonautics Day in Russia, celebrated annually on April 12.
The date was established to honor the first human spaceflight, undertaken by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin aboard the Vostok spacecraft on April 12, 1961.
