In a statement to which Prensa Latina has access, the three legislators also deemed it unacceptable that in the 21st century, “an attempt is being made to discipline a people through hunger, isolation, or the threat of war.”
They asserted that Cuba has demonstrated throughout history a profound commitment to peace, solidarity, and cooperation among nations, even under extremely adverse conditions.
They also denounced that such economic hostility subdues “the brotherly people of Cuba to extreme stifling conditions, violating basic human rights and hindering their sovereign development.”
Aguirre, Pedrali, and Casas said, “This blockade, maintained by the United States, is a systematic policy of harassment that the international community has repeatedly condemned.”
They warn that Donald Trump’s recent statements are particularly serious, as they not only reinforce the logic of the blockade but also advance the threat of possible military action against the island.
The three lawmakers affirm, “These statements are part of a strategy of pressure and destabilization that jeopardizes regional peace and violates fundamental principles of international law.”
