Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun responded to a question about the 10-day truce that went into effect this Thursday between the two nations.
Guo noted that China welcomes all efforts that contribute to halting the fighting.
The spokesman stated that Beijing hopes the parties involved will act responsibly to maintain the ceasefire and stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum of the negotiations.
He also affirmed that differences should be resolved through political and diplomatic means.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed today’s announcement of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, although military authorities reported violations of the agreement just hours after it took effect.
The head of government described the truce, announced by US President Donald Trump, as a key demand of the government since the beginning of the conflict.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, Salam noted that the cessation of hostilities was a central objective during his recent visit to Washington and congratulated the Lebanese people on what he considered a significant achievement.
