“There were no free elections in Honduras… the elections were stolen, and that is an act of terrorist conspiracy that must be investigated. I am an eyewitness,” Ochoa denounced on his social media account, referring to the irregular elections of November 30, 2025.

Controlled by the right-wing National (PN) and Liberal (PL) parties, the National Congress (Parliament) removed the National Electoral Council (CNE) member and Electoral Court (TJE) magistrate Mario Morazan from the post.

Through impeachment initiated by the National Party (PN) and the Liberal Party (PL) against officials affiliated with the once-ruling Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre, left-wing), the legislature also removed Lourdes Mejiq and Gabriel Gutierrez, alternate judges of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TJE).

Ochoa also lashed out at the president of the National Congress, the nationalist Tomas Zambrano, whom he accused of orchestrating the proceedings against him.

“In the style of the Holy Inquisition, under the direction of Tomas Zambrano, they carried out my sentence under the guise of legality, confirming the criminal nature of my executioners, the same ones who had announced their verdict in the media and bought votes from positions of power,” he stated.

Ochoa, who refused to show up before the legislature because he believed his sentence had already been agreed upon, left the country to safeguard his physical safety due to alleged threats against his life.

He also accused the nationalist government of President Nasry Asfura of “fabricating accusations, issuing an arrest warrant, and pushing me into prison, where they are plotting my death. There is proof,” he asserted.
