In bilateral consultations on the bloc, held in New Delhi, both sides exchanged views on the implementation of the SCO Leaders’ Decisions and the future of the organization.
They also jointly requested Foreign Secretary Sibi George to review cooperation within the SCO framework on security, trade, connectivity, and people-to-people relations.
At the bloc’s last Summit in the Chinese city of Tianjin in 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that it is a grave injustice to confine the aspirations of the Global South to outdated frameworks for future generations.
He specified that SCO members can intensify mutual cooperation to reform global institutions and leverage the 80th anniversary of the United Nations to unanimously push for these changes.
Modi welcomed the organization’s recent expansion with four new centers to address contemporary challenges such as organized crime, drug trafficking, and cybersecurity.
He added that, for the past 24 years, his country has worked constructively and positively as an active member of the SCO, which has played a vital role in connecting what he described as a large family across the Eurasian region.
Modi emphasized, among other things, that in this context, India has championed its vision and policies based on security, connectivity, and opportunity.
