During his address at the Fifth Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, the president stressed that accepting Israeli sovereignty over that territory constitutes a violation of international law and Syria’s legitimate rights.
“Recognizing Israel’s right to the occupied Syrian Golan Heights is an invalid recognition that violates the rights of the Syrian people,” he emphasized.
Al-Sharaa maintained that no state can cede part of its territory without the consent of its population, whom he described as the rightful owners of the nation.
He also reiterated that the international community recognizes the Golan Heights as Syrian territory occupied by Israel and advocated for a new security agreement guaranteeing Israel’s withdrawal to the 1974 borders.
The head of State indicated that Damascus is committed to regional stability through dialogue and diplomacy, while avoiding alignments that would deepen tensions between powers.
In this regard, he affirmed that Syria seeks to play a bridging role between international actors, maintaining relations with countries such as the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, as well as with nations in the region.
Israel has occupied most of the Golan Heights since 1967, a situation rejected by the majority of the international community, with the exception of the United States.
The Fifth Antalya Diplomatic Forum brings together heads of State, ministers, and representatives of international organizations under the theme “How to Face Uncertainties in Building the Future,” with broad global participation.
