During the meeting Savadye and Perez Mesa reviewed joint projects and initiatives in the biotechnology sector, focusing on expediting them to achieve the expected impact on the African nation’s healthcare system.
Both parties discussed other possibilities for collaboration, based on existing opportunities and identified needs.
Savadye provided an overview of the institution and acknowledged Cuba’s progress in innovation and biotechnology, and said that he witnessed firsthand during his visit to the Caribbean island before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Perez Mesa also provided an update on the situation facing the Caribbean nation following the most recent measures taken by the United States administration.
The ambassador cited as an example of the effects of the fierce blockade the inability of US citizens to access medications such as Neural CIM, which has shown positive results in recent studies in Cuba with a group of patients from that country.
