For this initiative that coincides with International Day for Monuments and Sites, institutions located in Havana’s Vedado neighborhood were chosen, adding that some sites required prior reservation through an official link from the Regional Office.
Anne Lemaistre, director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cuba, affirmed that this action shows the organization’s commitment to safeguarding Havana’s cultural heritage.
Art History and Architecture students will lead the tours alongside UNESCO specialists, who will accompany visitors to the institutions and residences.
The list includes the British Ambassador’s Residence, the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT), the headquarters of the UNESCO Regional Office in Havana, the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), and the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, among other institutions.
