Rome, April 18 (Prensa Latina) During an event convened by the People's Power party, preparations continued in Rome for a second European Convoy to aid Cuba, which will arrive on the island on April 22.

According to a report published on the website of Contropiano newspaper, the event included information on a campaign to collect medicines, medical equipment, and other supplies to support the Cuban people.

Activist Giulia Calo, national coordinator of People’s Power, presented a report on the results of the first European Convoy, which delivered material aid to the Caribbean nation last March, with the participation of more than 100 representatives from various political forces, social, youth, and labor organizations.

This call to action states that “the imperialist blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years has intensified even further following President Donald Trump’s executive order, aimed at preventing the entry of fuel in order to generate a humanitarian crisis.”

The purpose of this new solidarity initiative is to continue actions aimed at “breaking the US blockade and returning, at least in part, the solidarity that Cuba has always given to the world, showing that it is a necessary alternative to a global system marked by barbarism.”

Under the slogan “Cuba is not alone,” participants are to travel by air to Santiago de Cuba to deliver supplies to health centers in various communities in that eastern province, as well as in Granma and Guantanamo.

They also plan to take part in May Day celebration in Havana, where they will boost concepts such as: “Through the revolutionary principle of doctors, not bombs, Cuba teaches us the significance of internationalism among peoples,” while also representing “a history of struggle and resistance,” so “let us respond to the blockade with solidarity,” the call adds.
