Ukraine attacks facilities with drones in Russia’s Samara region

Moscow, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) Several drones attacked industrial facilities in the cities of Novokubyshevsk and Sizran, in Russia region of Samara, the jurisdiction's Governor, Vyacheslav Fedorischev, informed.

Fedorischev wrote on Max platform, “Impacts were recorded at industrial enterprises in Novokubyshevsk and Sizran. According to preliminary data, no injuries were reported.”

Emergency teams are working in the affected areas, while authorities have deployed operational centers to manage the situation.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense systems shot down, in the last 24 hours, 258 Ukrainian attack drones in several regions of the European part of the country.

Meanwhile, the national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported that the temporary restrictions have been imposed at the airports in Bhubulma, Kazan, Kirov, Nizhnekamsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Cheboksary, and Yaroslavl to ensure safety of flights and passengers. Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the Donbas population from “the Kyiv regime’s genocide,” according to President Vladimir Putin.

It also aims to counter national security risks posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)’s eastward expansion.
