Bogota, April 18 (Prensa Latina) A cultural gathering in solidarity with Cuba is being held in this city with the participation of some thirty artists, including Colombians, Argentinians, and Cubans.

Under the slogan “All with Cuba,” the event organizers asked attendees to bring non-perishable food items, toiletries, and other essential goods, which will later be sent to the island, whose people are suffering the effects of the tightened sanctions imposed by the United States.

At Casa de Citas restaurant, located in the central La Candelaria neighborhood of Bogota, Alekos, Fadd, Manigua, Tinta Purpura, La Tambora de Gilbert, and Maitalea Fe, among other groups and performers take part, an action that joins other initiatives undertaken in defense of the Cuban people.

Members of social movements in Colombia protested last Thursday in front of the US Embassy in Bogota in an action they called a Sit-in for Sovereignty, Independence, and Self-Determination of Peoples.

Rosario Nieto, a member of the Sintradistritales labor union, told Prensa Latina that she attended the protest to demand that the “imperialist government lift the economic and energy blockade it has imposed on our sister Republic of Cuba, since it is genocidal,” in addition to the oil blockade.

During the protest, they demanded an end to the blockade and raised flags of support for Palestine and Iran, which are suffering the consequences of attacks promoted by Israel.

Last Tuesday, a plane carrying humanitarian aid to Cuba departed from the Military Air Transport Command (CATAM). The aid included 12 tons of medicine, medical supplies, and food collected through the efforts of social organizations, solidarity groups, and the Colombian government.
