The head of State also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to “strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation” with Benin, and highlighted the brotherhood, as well as the historical and cultural ties, between the peoples of both nations.

Wadagni won 94% of the vote for a seven-year term, a landslide victory over his closest opponent, Paul Hounkpe.
