French people prioritize honesty for the 2027 presidential elections

Paris, April 19 (Prensa Latina) Seventy-six percent of French people consider honesty the most important quality in a president of the Republic, according to a poll, one year before the elections to choose the head of state.

According to the Elabe survey for La Tribune Dimanche, the next most important qualities are closeness to the electorate and the ability to listen, both at 55 percent. Elabe’s president, Bernard Sananes, interprets this as “an implicit criticism” of the current president, Emmanuel Macron.

Those interviewed also highlighted courage (48 percent), authority (34 percent), vision (30 percent), and charisma (25 percent) as necessary qualities for the future head of state.

According to the poll, 28 percent of the French people would like the next president to be from the right, 19 percent from the left, and 16 percent from the center.

The opinion poll also showed that voters expect Macron’s successor, who has governed since 2017, to prioritize improving purchasing power, as well as addressing security, healthcare, public debt, and immigration.
