Known as “My Signature for the Homeland,” the campaign was supported by the highest authorities in this western province and the people attending the event commemorating the 65th anniversary of the victory against the mercenary invasion on Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs), in the island’s central-south region.
Jose de la Cruz, leader of the Cuban Federation of University Students (FEU), emphasized that signing the document alongside the people reaffirms the Cuban youth’s will to defend the Revolution’s achievements at any cost.
De la Cruz commented, “When our nation is cruelly blockaded with a stifling and harassment policy by the United States government, defending the homeland from their own small corner of the world is every young person’s responsibility.”
Penafor Gallo, head of the Militia at Playa Giron, declared that the Cuban people’s will lies in continuing to be a country of peace, and they will never hesitate to defend the achievements of the Rebel Army and the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.
The “My Signature for the Homeland” campaign, launched on Sunday in support of the Cuban government and its leaders, is a commitment to the Cubans who fell defending sovereignty and socialism on the sands of Playa Giron.
