Members of the General Directorate for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking seized three rifles in Roosevelt Park area, in the department of Canelones.
In addition, $30,000 in cash and a pickup truck linked to the Albin criminal organization were seized.
However, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape and is being sought by the authorities.
The action was part of Operation New Era II, which “led to the arrest of Luis Fernando Fernandez Albin and the indictment of the main members of the criminal group” in the past, the Ministry of the Interior stated on its social media account.
“We commend the work of the National Police’s Investigations Directorate, both operational and intelligence-based, which once again allows us to advance in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, impacting their resources and weakening their operations,” Interior Minister Carlos Negro wrote on his social media accounts.
